Surge Protection Device (SPD)
The MK Sentry surge device has been designed to meet the requirements of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
The device will provide protection from two forms of surge:
- LEMP – Lighting Electro Magnetic Pulse
- SEMP – Switching Electro Magnetic Pulse
The type 2 surge protection device is the main protection system for all low voltage electrical installations. It will prevent the spread of overvoltage in electrical installation and protects the load.
It must be provided where over voltage could:
- Cause serious injury/loss of life
- Cause interruption of public services
- Cause interruption to commercial/industry activity
- Affect a large number of co-located individuals
Standards & Approvals
MK Sentry surge devices are designed to fully comply with the requirements of BS EN61643 and IEC 61643-11. The surge devices feature positive contact status indication in accordance with 18th edition IEE Wiring Regulations (537.2.2.2 and 5373.2.2).
